The Texas
Department of Health on May 6, 1993 officially recognized the
Regional Advisory Council for Trauma Service - R.
The official
name of the RAC is East Texas Gulf Coast Regional Trauma Advisory
Council.
The Philosophy
and Mission of the RAC is to facilitate the development,
implementation and operation of a comprehensive regional trauma care
system based on accepted standards of care to decrease morbidity and
morality from traumatic injuries.
The RAC will
solicit participation from all health care facilities providers,
organizations and entities related to the provision of comprehensive
trauma care.
The RAC will
encourage active participation from community leaders, governmental
representatives and elected officials in promoting and establishing
an efficient and effective system of regional trauma care for
all that may require such services.
Geographic
Authority
Trauma Service Areas (TSA) are established for descriptive
and planning purposes and not for the purpose of restricting patient
